Events & Activities that Make Austin, Texas the Place to be This Spring

Austin, Texas. Home of ten gallon hats and 8 second bull rides, but that’s not all that Austin has to offer. This spring, 2016, has a line up of activities that will make any resident, soon to be resident, and passers through happy to enjoy Austin this spring.

Starting it off and keeping it weird is – “Keep Austin Weird Fest & 5K.” On June 25th, 2016 at 1:30 PM, Downtown Austin will celebrate the strange, the unusual, and the downright weird. Come one, come all, and come in your finest costumes (because, yes, there will be a costume contest). The 5k run starts at 6:00 PM and is open to bizarre adults and kids alike. Get your tickets early and come join the Austin weirdos.

Next up – “Zilker Kite Festival.” In the beautiful Zilker Park, March 6th, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the city of austin will show off their kite making and flying skills. The sky will be filled with the fancy homemade and store bought birds that we all liked as kids, but now love as adults. Grab your friends and family and bring them down for some good fun, good food, and downright good times.

Looking to challenge your clever brain? – “The 39th annual O.Henry Pun-off World Championships” will go down in Austin, May 7th, 2016. The phuniest men and women from all over the world will grace this amazing town with their punslinging talents. Be prepared to wrap your brain around some seriously-funny competition in the punning world.

Last, but not least – “Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival.” This one is for all the saucy, minxes roaming the Austin city streets. If you have a taste for the burn, you won’t want to miss this festival. This August many will flock to the Edward Rendon, Sr. Park at Festival Beach, 2101 Jesse E Segovia Street to enjoy amazing food, mind-blowing sauce (more than 350 varieties), live music, and entertainment.
